The Research Unit Sustainability and Global Change is member of the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN) at Hamburg University’s Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Natural Sciences (MIN). CEN bundles expertise from natural science, economics, social sciences, and the humanities. Nine institutes or other types of institutions do constitute CEN, our Research Unit representing one of them.
The Research Unit Sustainability and Global Change comprises about twenty members, five of whom are supported by the University’s core funding (incl. secretary), while the others are either supported by third party funding and stipends, or hold the status of a student.
It is chaired by Prof. Dr. Hermann Held who is affiliated with the departments of geosciences and economics. Prof. Dr. Uwe Schneider as the leading agro-economist at KlimaCampus Hamburg co-chairs the Research Unit.
