Organization
The Research Unit Sustainability and Global Change is part of the Department of Earth Sciences at Hamburg University’s Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Natural Sciences (MIN).
The Research Unit is home to over twenty members, five of which are supported by the University’s core funding (incl. secretary), while the remainder are either supported by third party funding and stipends, or hold student status.
The Research Unit is chaired by Prof. Hermann Held, who is affiliated with the Department of Earth Sciences and the Department of Economics. Prof. Uwe Schneider, the leading agro-economist at our university and at the KlimaCampus Hamburg, co-chairs the Research Unit.
Both co-chairs, as well as the majority of their FNU co-workers, are members of the university’s Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN). The CEN bundles expertise from the natural sciences, economics, social sciences, and the humanities. Hermann Held is a member of the CEN’s governing board.
