Rafaela was a PhD candidate in the International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling (IMPRS-ESM) and member of the Research Unit Sustainability and Global Change. She has a background in environmental engineering and experience with water resources management in Brazil. Her research insterests range from climate change impact assessment, global water cycle feedbacks, global trade related impacts and land use change.
